49ers Week 1 Graphic Case Study

Problem: The objective of this project was to create a graphic for the 49ers week 1 game versus the Chicago Bears. I wanted the graphic to be informative and interesting to look at as well as bring hype to the game. This was important because the graphic would bring excitement to fans as well bring information about the game such as the time and date and opponent. 

 

Role: My role for this was the planning and creation of the entire graphic. 

 

Solution: The result of my graphic was very successful. I think I achieved creating a graphic that was not only informative but was interesting and creates hype for the game. The challenge I faced while creating this graphic was how to combine the two outcomes I wanted, informative and hype-creating, in a complementary way. To do this I first needed to figure out how I was going to bring hype to the graphic and make it look interesting. I decided to choose Trey Lance as my player for the graphic because he want the player with the most hype to watch. Trey Lance was just named the starter for the 49ers 2022 season and a lot of hype was around Trey Lance and his start after being drafted third overall in the 2021 NFL draft. I also added the Golden Gate Bridge in the background to pay homage the where the 49ers originate. I also added a brush of streaks going down the graphic to show the colors of red and gold. I then needed to figure out how to make the graphic informative in a clean and simple way. I decided to do a gaussian blur on one-third of the graphic to allow the text to be easier to read. In doing this I was able to create a graphic that was both informative and brought hype to the 49ers week 1 game. 

 

Research: My research consisted of getting information about the game such as what day and time the 49ers played. I also needed to research what player would bring the most hype to the game where I ended up choosing Trey Lance. 

 

Challenges: The challenges I faced during my process of creating the graphic included the process of creating a complementary relationship between making it informative and hype-creating. 

 

Learnings: My learnings while creating this graphic included improving my ability to have two objectives in mind and being able to make them complement each other. Doing this design also increased my knowledge and understanding of blurs in Photoshop.
